
ELL Level 1 students, typically, are new to Canada, and have either been processed at the District Reception and Placement Centre, or have spent very little time in elementary school.
Level 2 students are those who have progressed from Level 1. They can speak and understand English.
Transitional students are those who typically have been learning English for 2 or more years. Students in grades 8 and 9 will be placed in regular English 8 or 9 and students in grades 10-12 will be placed in English 10 as this is a mandatory course for graduation.
